About me

With a strong background in technology, I have amassed a substantial amount of experience in several fields of Information Technology over the last 8 years including system & server administration, disaster recovery, compliance and enterprise mobility management.

Today my primary role involves Senior Product Management & Support for Mobile and Cloud technologies, in which I:

Manage an international Enterprise Mobility Environment
Actively develop the Mobile Solutions Environment roadmap
Maintain extensive libraries of peer-reviewed documentation
Built and currently maintain the corporate Mobile Solutions website
Evaluate and review new devices before adding them to the supported devices catalogue
Manage the Telecom Expenses Platform
Liaise with clients directly regarding the sale and implementation of several solutions within my remit.
Deploy and maintain two key collaboration platforms for the business and respective clients
Lead multiple simultaneous client and back-end projects

I actively manage and support hundreds of field and office-based mobile devices across Europe and the wider World using a variety of solutions consisting of (but not limited to):

MDM - Mobile Device Management
MEM/TEM - Mobile/Telecom Expense Management
MAM - Mobile Application Management
MFM - Mobile File Management

From little more than an idea in 2012 for how the company could adequately support mobile devices, I have very successfully built and maintain a robust, well-documented and increasingly popular Enterprise Mobility Environment that meets and exceeds the needs of the business now, and will continue to do so in the future.

Though mobile plays a huge part in my career, it is not my only current responsibility. I am also the technical lead engineer of a large, international network of disaster recovery sites and backup servers throughout Europe. It is my responsibility to maintain these backup servers and the respective software as well as a multitude of 3rd party contracts relating to offsite-storage and DR planning. In my personal time I run a modest blog that attracts over 800 unique visitors a month. I review technology and write opinion pieces such as Thoughts on BYOD and Will 2014 bring better battery life? This helps me to stay on top of trends and encourages me to fully research the topics I discuss.

Enterprise Mobility Analyst

Took over the existing mobile estate, lead several business-critical projects and solutions internally & with clients. Key point of contact for anything "mobile" within the business. Awarded for my contribution to the company.

Manage mobile estate, MDM, cloud and collaboration tools.

Migrated company onto modern collaboration tools and away from the old, outdated Sharepoint 2007 system.

Compliance Systems Administrator

Acting co-head of compliance team and lead engineer for disaster recovery environment, audit solutions, patching and corporate AV solution.

Deployed DR sites in several european offices, enabling over-the-wire backups to UK hub.

Actively achieved quarterly SOX compliance status and worked with the business to remain compliant.

Field Engineer

Mobile engineer supporting and implementing several hardware & software products for numerous clients in and out of the UK. Up to 60% travel and majoritively client-facing with occasional back-end duties such as building servers.

Sure, alone I'm a force to be reckoned with and I work incredibly well autonomously, but teamwork is vitally important. I can work well in a team; I can lead a team, or I can be led. Whatever suits the situation.

I've worked immensely hard to rise up the ranks and move into a position where I am revered and respected for my knowledge and skills. I meet deadlines, I push for results in all areas of the business. I see projects through to completion.

Epic communication

What's happening with that project? When is that meeting scheduled? Who's that guy in reception? All questions you won't need to ask - you'll already know. Chasing people for updates can be a pain. I can provide in-depth, deeply analytical reports or two-line emails, and I do so without having to be reminded incessantly. Communication may just be one of my best qualities - those who know me can attest to it.

Passion

I cannot get enough of mobile tech - in or out of the workplace. I spend so much of my own free time keeping up with news and trends that it only makes sense I apply this knowledge and interest to my day-job. I'm deeply passionate about mobile, cloud and future technologies (wearables, internet of things, etc). Work doesn't feel like work when it's something I enjoy so much.

Implemented EMM

In under 6 months I successfully researched, built and deployed an Enterprise Mobility Environment consisting of:

Mobile Device, Expense, App and File Management
Mobile Device Evaluations (O2-supplied devices)
Mac & WinRT support
Support for BYOD
A documentation library for the policies and procedures, supported devices and operating systems, including the roadmap for all of the above

The environment has matured rapidly and is actively on-boarding clients of all sizes. MDM in particular has been deployed to several clients in multiple countries.

Why Wales?

Being born and bred in Newport, I have a natural affinity with Wales. After travelling around the UK and Europe for the last few years, I'm now back in Wales but still commuting to Oxfordshire daily. I'm looking to get the right role with a business that will allow me to achieve a better work/life balance and settle down with my new family.

Only Wales?

Although my aim is to move back to Newport, I'm happy to commute up to an hour (negotiable perhaps more depending on policies for working from home) in any direction - including over the Severn bridge - for the right role.
